Chimur is a new alternative of thermo-medicinal waters located in Paucartambo, approximately 150 km from the city of Cusco, on the route Cusco – Calca – Amparaes – Chimur. It offers us an incredible trip, exclusively to relax and enjoy the natural landscapes of Cusco.
The Chimur Hot Springs are crystal clear and transparent, the temperature ranges between 46° to 53° Celsius and are recommended for rheumatic diseases and among others. This itinerary has been updated according to the Covid-19 biosecurity protocols required by the Peruvian government for 2021:

Our tour starts from the pick up from your respective hotel between 03:50 hours. to 04:00 hrs. from Cusco and then board a tourist transport that will take us to the city of Paucartambo, during the tour we will visit, the town of Ampares with a travel time of 2 hours approx. from Cusco, perfect place to take our breakfast, then we continue in the transport for 02 hour more trip to Chimur, 15 minutes later, we will arrive to the Chimur Hot Springs.
The Chimur Thermal Baths is a cozy tourist place that provides a pleasant and relaxing stay due to the composition of medicinal substances in the waters and the scenic environment, as it is a jungle eyebrow with a diversity of flora and fauna. After enjoying the medicinal thermal baths, we will return to the village of Chimur, where we will enjoy a delicious lunch and finally return to the city of Cusco, arriving at 7:00 p.m. about.

The Chimur Hot Springs or Chimur thermal baths, is located in the district of Challabamba province of Paucartambo at a distance of 59 km from the province of Paucartambo, and the travel time is 4 hours one way by the route of Cusco – Calca – Amparaes – Chimur. The Chimur Hot Springs is a cozy tourist place that offers you a pleasant and relaxing stay due to the composition of medicinal substances in the waters and the scenic environment for being part of the Qosñipata Valley jungle with a diversity of flora and fauna.

How to get to the Chimur hot springs?
Before knowing how to get to the Chimur hot springs, you have to know if you want to visit it in 1 day or in 2, for this you have 2 options, visit it in 1 day (Full Day Hot Springs) or do it in 2 days which includes camping and night bathing.
In order to get to the Chimur Hot Springs, you can take one of these 2 routes from the city of Cusco.
The first route is Cusco – Calca – Ampares – Chimur.
The second route is Cusco – Paucartambo – Challabamba – Chimur.
Cusco – Calca – Ampares – Chimur Route
This road is the shortest, it takes 4 hours to reach the hot springs of Chimur, and is a little dangerous because the road is not paved, therefore not recommended in the rainy season.
Cusco – Paucartambo – Challabamba – Chimur Route
This is the longest route, it takes about 5 hours to reach the thermal baths of Chimur, and it is a less dangerous road, by this route we can visit Paucartambo, a city full of customs and picturesque streets.
How is the Chimur full day tour?
Most of the tours are 1 full day, either through Calca or Paucartambo.
The tour starts from the city of Cusco, leaving very early, around 5 in the morning, the transport gathers all the passengers and goes to the Chimur hot springs, depending on the route you prefer, you can have breakfast in a certain place or already arriving to Chimur.
If you prefer to travel by the route of Paucartambo, before reaching the thermal baths of Chimur, we will find a colonial bridge. Where we can stop and take some pictures. After that we will travel about 30 minutes and 1 hour to reach the Chimur hot springs.

The first thing you can do is to get into the Chimur hot springs and enjoy it to the fullest. The second thing you could do is to camp, for this the ideal is to stay 1 night and enjoy the Chimur hot springs at night enjoying the moment.
The best time to visit the thermal baths of Chimur
The Chimur hot springs are located in the jungle of Cusco, so the weather is a little hot, which does not help much when it comes to getting into the water. But we can find the pool that we like and enjoy it. The landscape of this place is sensational, very characteristic of the Peruvian jungle.
The best time to visit the hot springs of Chimur, is in the dry season or the absence of rains in the city of Cusco, which is considered from the month of (May to October).
Did you know the difference between the thermal baths of Lares and the Chimur thermal baths?
The big difference is that the thermal baths of Lares have more infrastructure, and is located about 3 hours from the city of Cusco, while the thermal baths of Chimur is 5 hours from the city of Cusco, and does not have good accessibility, but if you can enjoy a lot of the visit.
